As I stated in my opening blog I am a preschool teacher and I am using this forum as a tool to share with others about the ups and downs and craziness that is called being an early childhood educator or anyone involved in the life of a preschooler.
My thought for today:
This week in preschool we talked about pets. Some parents want the usual "cookie cutter" art projects for the children to take home. Those activities are cute and show the parent what we are learning about however there is not a lot educating going on with those. We pulled out our Lego's and made habitats for our "pretend" pets. While we were constructing our pet habitats we were discussing the things each of our pets would need in their habitats. One little boy built a house for his dog with a fenced in play area, a pool to cool off in, and a cozy bed. The thought process that he used in order to construct the perfect area for his dog and discussing everything he wanted to add to his dog's area was the learning experience. A learning experience that can not be put on the fridge but a learning experience all the same.
